Somatic Therapy
As a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist and Somatic Practitioner, my purpose is to hold a safe and grounded container to bring consciousness to the feelings in your body and allow them to exist and express.
Everything we feel, pleasant and unpleasant, needs connection. Where we could not get that in the past, or are not able to get it in the present, are all the places where our energy holds against expression and creates tension.
Tension patterns display in many different ways. For some it looks like depression, others anxiety. It may manifest as a contribution to challenging relationships, poor work performance, or lack of personal boundaries. It could be as small as procrastinating cleaning your house, or as large as feeling afraid to leave the house. It could look like addiction, overworking, frustration, or hopelessness.
From this perspective, that what is held in our physical bodies is rooted in our energetic body, what we see is where energy flows and where it is blocked. This work is so powerful because we are no longer talking about what we are experiencing, instead we make room to speak from what we’re experiencing. When we can do that, and meet energy with presence, we can actually begin to heal on the deepest level.
Somatic Therapy sessions utilize somatic inquiry, therapeutic dialogue, mindfulness and the expressive arts as tools for exploration. They are informed by Gestalt Psychotherapy and Polyvagal Theory, to bring all parts into perspective and come to a place where you can navigate real life with that awareness.
Whatever patterns show up inside you, know there is nothing wrong with you. Your body has come up with the best way for it to survive. This process begins wherever you are, and only from there can we renegotiate the tension, so that you can live your life more connected to your center, and thrive.
Sessions are 55 min, weekly or biweekly, $105
